Samaritans Testify of Jesus as the Christ
39 ¶And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
41 And many more believed because of his own word;
42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
--John 4:42
Jesus is the Christ. People gain this assurance by the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is the testator; he testifies to people the truth of things, and in this case, that Jesus is the very Christ that He said He was. The Samaritan woman told other Samaritans about Christ, and they desired to learn for themselves. So they went to Jesus and sure enough, they discovered that He was the Christ that she testified of. To know Him is to love Him.
Look at the train rails--what do you see?
Our natural eyes can deceive us. Our eyes tell us that the further the train track is away from us, the rails get closer to gather, almost to the point of touching each other. In reality we know this is not true. Gaining a knowledge of Jesus Christ, that He is the Christ, is obtained by the Holy Ghost, for the Holy Ghost doesn't deceive or lead us astray. "By the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things." (Moroni 10:5) Therefore, seek to know Jesus and don't depend upon our natural eyes alone, although our natural can behold His beautiful creations, but in the final analysis, we must learn of His assurance by the power of the Spirit, the Spirit of the Holy Ghost. Look at the train rails--what do you see?
